North Spirit Lake in Ontario is home to 430 people on reserve. The community completed repairs and upgrades to their water system, with funding from Indigenous Services Canada (ISC), and is making operational improvements to meet current and future water needs.

There is 1 long-term drinking water advisory affecting 90 homes and 5 community buildings:

  • a boil water advisory for the North Spirit Lake Public Water System was set in April 2019 and became long-term in April 2020

Infrastructure is in place that can produce clean drinking water.

The Centralized Water and Wastewater Hub, delivered by the Keewaytinook Okimakanak Tribal Council and funded by ISC, is providing operational support to the community. Once operational challenges are addressed, the community should be able to lift the advisory.
