What is a trusted source

A trusted source is a registration administrator, organization or provincial, territorial or federal department that has been designated to help you register under the Indian Act and get, renew or replace a status card.

How a trusted source can help

If you would like to apply for registration or a secure status card, a trusted source can help you complete and submit your application.

If you submit your application through a trusted source, you may not need a guarantor.

Who can apply

All organizations interested in supporting persons applying for registration and a secure status card can apply for funding anytime.

How to apply

Submit a complete proposal that includes:

  • a clear summary of the project
  • a description of objectives and activities
  • a budget proposal
  • a description of expected results

Questions and complete proposals can be submitted by email to sourcesfiables-trustedsources@sac-isc.gc.ca.

We will review your proposal to determine if your organization is eligible for funding.
