Lac La Croix

Emergency repairs complete, additional repairs and long-term solution in design

Project tracker

Projected lift date: TBD

Lac La Croix First Nation in Ontario is home to 315 people on reserve.

There is 1 long-term drinking water advisory affecting 81 homes and 11 community buildings:

  • a boil water advisory was set on the Lac La Croix Water System in January 2022 and became long term in January 2023

The community completed emergency repairs to the water treatment plant. An advisory remains in place due to inadequate treatment.

A feasibility study to address the long-term drinking water needs of the community is complete and recommends an upgrade and expansion to the water treatment plant. Design is now underway. Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) is providing funding to Lac La Croix First Nation to continue with their water treatment plant upgrade project.

The Pwi-Di-Goo-Zing Ne-Yaa-Zhing Advisory Services Water and Wastewater Hub, funded by ISC, and the Giishkaandag'Ikwe Health Services Environmental Public Health Officer continue to provide on-the-ground support to the local water operator.
